Disinfected nail tools typically remain sterile for about a week, with a maximum of two weeks. The exact duration depends on the disinfection method, storage environment, and tool type.
According to standard operating procedures, if tools are soaked in 75% alcohol for 10 minutes or exposed to ultraviolet light for 30 minutes, and then stored in a dry, sealed, light-proof dedicated disinfection cabinet or sterile bag, they can generally maintain an effective disinfection state for about 7 days. Some strictly managed nail salons will label the disinfection date and stipulate that tools not used for more than 7 days must be re-disinfected.
However, if stored in a humid, high-temperature, or open environment, or if frequent use leads to contamination, the disinfection effect may become ineffective within 24–48 hours. Especially in situations where multiple people share the same space or where the environment is rich in bacteria, fungi or bacteria can easily re-grow on the tool surface.
